What to do when the laptop fan escalates while you write a new e-mail

If you are using Microsoft Outlook as your e-mail client you might want to turn off the automatic grammar error check.

To do so:

  1. Go to: Options > Mail > Editor options > Proofing.
  2. Clear the "Mark grammar errors as you type" check box.
  3. Apply settings, close them and go back to typing your new e-mail.

This worked for me in August of 2022. I was using the desktop Outlook app for Microsoft 365. If grammar check was the culprit in your case too, your Outlook's CPU usage should be below 10% now.
